Officers from the Norwalk Police Department were dispatched to Plymouth Avenue at approximately 11 a.m. on July 9 last year, where there was a reported shooting.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man near the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, with the suspect fleeing before law enforcement arrived. The man was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of “serious” injuries, but ultimately survived.

A police investigation into the shooting identified West Haven resident Marquel Middleton as a person of interest in the case, and a warrant was secured for his arrest.

Middleton was arrested by Norwalk police officers in Milford on Thursday morning, with an assist from the Milford Police Department and the Office of Adult Probation. He has been charged with criminal attempt at murder, reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Following arraignment, Middleton was held in lieu of $500,000 bond. He is due back in court later this year to answer the charges against him.
